Ponce was a 9-month-old Labrador puppy who suffered the most painful death at the hands of his owner, Travis Archer. This incident from Florida was reported in 2016 by some neighbors who had heard Ponce’s dying whimpers after a brutal beating by Travis.
By the time the cops arrived, Ponce had bled out from his mouth and passed away. 46-year-old Travis initially tried to downplay the abuse, but he had to concede when the cops found clear signs of blood and violence.
The most pressing evidence was the huge puncture in the drywall of his home, which happened when Travis hammered Ponce against the wall for “making a mess”. A necropsy revealed that Ponce had suffered multiple lacerations, seven puncture wounds to the left shoulder, hip and thigh, a fractured jaw, crushed teeth, a broken rib and a punctured lung.
Ponce’s death has since caused a huge stir in law enforcement. Over 100,000 citizens joined hands to sign a petition to pass “Ponce’s Law” which calls for stricter animal cruelty punishments. As per a recent development, Travis will soon be facing a court date for sentencing. Let’s spread the word and demand a strict penalty and prison time for Travis.
Update: Travis has been sentenced to 1 year in jail followed by 3 years of probation. He has also been banned from keeping a pet. He also has to pay a fine of $5,000, and an additional $8,000 in storage charges for Ponce’s body. However, Travis still defends himself saying that he did “love” his dog, and is regretful about his actions. Do you think the sentence is enough? Let us know in the comments.
